The BAM "Tornado" and the Patrol Boat "Tagomago" Complete Their Maritime Surveillance Missions in National Waters
The Maritime Action Ship "Tornado" and the patrol boat "Tagomago" have completed their respective operations of presence, surveillance, and deterrence in national waters, reports the Navy.
The BAM "Tornado" set sail at the end of September towards waters near Ceuta to monitor several Russian Navy ships navigating through the Alboran Sea, the Strait of Gibraltar, and the Gulf of Cádiz.
Before returning to its base at the Arsenal of Las Palmas, the ship also carried out surveillance tasks in the waters of Canary Islands. These missions were combined with training exercises for its crew, in preparation for its upcoming operational certification.
Meanwhile, the patrol boat "Tagomago" conducted surveillance tasks in the Alboran Sea and in waters near Melilla. Before returning to its home port in Málaga, it made a stop in the autonomous city to reinforce the Navy's presence and bring naval activity closer to the public.
The commander of the patrol boat "Tagomago", Lieutenant Miguel López Garay, emphasized the importance of these operations for maritime security. He explained that the continuous presence of ships helps deter illegal activities, detect potential threats, and facilitate a rapid response to any situation that may affect security.
The Operations of Presence, Surveillance, and Deterrence are part of the permanent missions of the Armed Forces to protect Spanish maritime spaces and maintain constant monitoring of activity at sea.
