First Start of the Diesel Engines of Submarine S-81
The commissioning program of the submarine S-81 “Isaac Peral” is progressing, and this morning the diesel engines installed on board were started for the first time. The smoke from the exhaust gases can be seen, more noticeable in this case for the reason mentioned.
The fuel for the engines has been supplied from the barge Y-222, from the Naval Train of the Cartagena Arsenal, docked at its stern, and hoses have been laid out since the submarine does not yet have fuel on board.
The barge Y-222 is docked at the stern due to the flank sonar that the submarine carries along its length, so no other vessel can be moored alongside it.
