Yang Ming Orders Six 13,650 TEU Dual-Fuel LNG Containerships
Yang Ming Marine Transport has commissioned Hanwha Ocean to build six new containerships of 13,650 TEU, each with dual-fuel LNG propulsion, expected to be delivered between 2028 and 2029.
The new units will join the East-West services of the shipping company and will be able to operate on routes connecting Asia with North America, South America, and the Mediterranean.
The containerships will be prepared to use ammonia as fuel in the future, in addition to incorporating technologies aimed at improving their energy efficiency.
These vessels are part of Yang Ming's plan to incorporate 24 new ships into its fleet by 2030. The program includes 18 dual-fuel LNG containerships: five of 15,500 TEU, seven of 16,000 TEU, and the six newly ordered 13,650 TEU vessels.
The shipping company will also add six 8,000 TEU containerships prepared to use methanol as fuel in the future.
