The ship “Volcán de Teneguía” returns to the Cádiz-Canarias route
Following the repairs after the fire suffered last August in the engine room, the ship “Volcán de Teneguía” is now available for its reintroduction to the Cádiz-Canarias route, where it operates under the service of Trasmediterránea. During this period of inactivity, the capacity of the commercial line has not been affected, as it has been sufficiently covered by the roll-on/roll-off ships “José M. Entrecanales” and “Elizabeth Russ”, the ropax “Albayzin”, and the container ship “Spica”.
Built at the Mawei Shipbuilding Ltd. shipyard in Fuzhou (China) and put into service in December 2007 under the name “Clara del Mar” and the code of the defunct Contenemar, it was acquired by the Armas Group in August 2011 and initially operated for OPDR Canarias as a reinforcement for the Sevilla line, after which the freight continued under Trasmediterránea, until it was decided to position it on the Cádiz line.
It is a con-ro type ship with a gross tonnage of 11,197 tons and a deadweight of 7,300 tons, with main dimensions of 145 m in overall length, 22 m in beam, 13.90 m in depth, and 6 m in draft. It maintains a speed of 16.5 knots and has a cargo capacity of 500 TEUs, including 125 refrigerated units and 104 trailers. IMO Code 9331191.
