The unloading of the ship “Modern Express” begins
The dockworkers at the port of Bilbao have begun unloading the ship “Modern Express” after it regained its stability. We offer a collection of images that speak for themselves and give an idea of how the ship looks inside and the hard work this group is undertaking.
It has decks 5 and 7 loaded with heavy machinery and about four thousand tons of wood. The most significant damage is on deck 7, which was flooded. Since its arrival at the port of Bilbao on February 3, a group of professionals has worked diligently to restore the ship's stability.
On January 26, Maritime Rescue rescued the 22 crew members of this ship after it sent a distress signal when it was about 148 miles north of Cape Ortegal. A helicopter was dispatched to assist, at the request of the British SAR, as the area where the ship was located corresponded to the MRCC Falmouth, which coordinated the emergency.
