Trasmediterránea schedules five winter trips on the Barcelona-Mahón route
For the upcoming winter season, Trasmediterránea plans to strengthen the Barcelona-Mahón route with a schedule of five weekly departures, from Tuesday to Saturday, which will be served by the ship “Juan J. Sister,” one of the best vessels in the century-old company’s fleet. This move challenges the competition from Balearia – which has six scheduled frequencies – expands opportunities in the island market, and reinforces its position in Menorca.
It is not true, as reported by the Menorcan digital press, that the ship “Snav Adriático” is in poor condition. We had the opportunity to travel on it a few months ago, precisely to Mahón, and it is quite an attractive ship for passengers inside, spacious and comfortable, although, being a Nordic-built ferry, it has closed spaces and limited outdoor deck area. It has sufficient garage capacity, and port operational reasons for loading and/or unloading sometimes cause it to miss scheduled times.
In the winter schedule, the ship “Juan J. Sister” will perform four of the five planned services on the Barcelona-Mahón route, while the ship “Zurbarán” will make the Saturday trip, which then connects to Palma and continues to Barcelona. This is also a great opportunity to visit Mahón for a few hours and, in particular, to enjoy the maneuver of entering and leaving, a half-hour journey from when the ship is between points, which is something truly unique.
