In Search of Trails Among Volcanoes
In the eastern area of the municipality of Fuencaliente de La Palma, the volcanic landscape becomes particularly noticeable. It could be utilized for the organization of a network of trails and information points that would become an additional attraction for an island that receives a significant percentage of tourists and visitors who enjoy walking and having direct contact with nature.
Along the road to Las Caletas, heading towards the century-old lighthouse where the island turns south, we find a succession of ancient volcanic cones and fields of lava and lapilli, which the farmers of Fuencaliente have skillfully taken advantage of in their patient symbiotic work. All of them are dryland crops, and where the prevailing breeze does not allow it, the maximum expression of the island's volcanic legacy reigns, which is particularly evident in this area of the island. A resource to be utilized.
