Tenerife Shipyards Completes a 50-Day Contract with 150 Jobs
Tenerife Shipyards has completed the repair work carried out on the drilling vessel “West Polaris,” owned by the multinational company Seadrill. The repairs, which have been completed within the established timeframe of 50 days, involved around 150 people who have been working simultaneously on the vessel. Additionally, one third of that number consisted of new hires, mostly qualified personnel from Tenerife..
The work carried out has mostly involved connecting sensors and valves to control the flow of fluids in tanks, installing a new “trip tank” with the necessary connections, as well as installing interior wiring to the control unit. Improvements have also been made to the accommodation area, which has allowed the number of crew members on board the vessel to double.
Jonathan Rodríguez, project superintendent, states that “it has been a particularly complex project that has allowed us to give our best as professionals. The entire team at Tenerife Shipyards wants to publicly thank Seadrill, which has trusted us for the eighth time to carry out repairs on their vessels. This not only represents a professional challenge for all the personnel involved, but also the execution of this work in Tenerife has provided a significant economic boost for the island, in addition to job creation. We must also acknowledge the hard work that all the shipyard staff have been doing during the project's duration: without them and their effort, it would not have been possible to complete the work on time.”
As usual, Tenerife Shipyards has completed this project while strictly adhering to the agreed timelines and maintaining the labor safety and environmental quality standards that characterize the work of the Tenerife shipyard.
