Tenerife Ports Prioritize Investment in Granadilla
The controversial industrial port of Granadilla will continue to receive investments to complete its infrastructure, so of the 200 million euros that the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife plans to invest by 2023, a significant portion will be allocated to completing this southern Tenerife port affected by frequent strong winds that limit its full operability.
For 2020, it is estimated that 21.5 million euros will be spent on the drafting of the project layout and the construction of the travel network connecting the port of Granadilla with the TF-1 highway, and in 2021, work corresponding to the section within the service area will begin, in which another 25.7 million euros will be spent.
By the end of 2022, it is expected that the works to close the riverside dock will be completed, which will make it possible for the entire port area to be available for docking. The Port Authority states that this is a “vital execution” that will begin next year with an assigned budget of just over one million euros out of a total of 20 million.
Regarding the other planned investments in the state ports in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the amounts for 2020 are as follows: 20.5 million euros for the port of the Tenerife capital; 2.9 million for Santa Cruz de La Palma, 3.6 million for Los Cristianos, one million for La Estaca, and 521,000 euros for San Sebastián de La Gomera.
