The New Cruise Terminal in Tenerife Nears Completion
The development of a fifteen thousand square meter area concentrates the bulk of the work that is part of the project for the new cruise terminal at the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Currently, work is being done on trenching for installations, landscaping, road signage, and paving. The terminal will be officially presented at the end of September, coinciding with the celebration of the XI edition of Seatrade Cruise Med, the most important cruise fair in Europe.
The finishing works of the architectural complex have been divided into two phases, with the first phase nearly completed, covering an area of 9,000 square meters, where landscaping and signage finishing touches remain. The second phase, located in front of the southern module of the cruise terminal, occupies 6,000 square meters and extends to the parking of the Puerto-Ciudad building, where other works will also be carried out in the coming weeks.
The work on the second phase, which will be completed in less than a month, currently focuses on trenching and laying the corresponding installations, including the curbs for the planters. Regarding landscaping, this area will feature royal palms of different sizes and outdoor plants such as kentia and yucca.
The lighting installation, both interior and exterior, of the cruise terminal is undergoing the necessary verifications with satisfactory results. This installation is pending the corresponding regularization by the General Directorate of Industry and Energy of the Government of the Canary Islands. Adequate and energy-efficient lighting installations contribute to achieving the “A” classification for maximum energy efficiency.
Tenerife Ports is working together with the Insular Society for the Promotion of Persons with Disabilities, Sinpromi, to achieve an accessible building that is sensitive to the needs of people with disabilities. In this regard, the provision of magnetic loop services at the checking counters stands out, allowing users of hearing aids to hear more clearly.
