Submarine Disappears While Visiting the Wreck of the Titanic

According to the British newspaper “The Guardian,” citing sources from the U.S. Coast Guard office in Boston, a submarine with five passengers on board has disappeared while attempting to get a close look at the wreck of the infamous transatlantic ship “Titanic,” among whom is British billionaire Hamish Harding.

U.S. and Canadian authorities have ordered a search and rescue operation in an area approximately 900 miles off Cape Cod, where the submarine is believed to be located.

The trip is organized by a company called OceanGate Expeditions, which has confirmed that the submarine “Titan” has gone missing. The submersible is capable of reaching the depth where the wreck of the “Titanic” lies, about four thousand meters down.
