A Street in the Port of Las Palmas for Antonio Armas
The board of directors of the Port Authority of Las Palmas, at the proposal of its president, Luis Ibarra, will approve in its meeting next Friday, March 28, the naming of the avenue that connects the port area with the maritime terminal of Naviera Armas Trasmediterránea, located in La Esfinge, with the name of Antonio Armas Fernández, president of the aforementioned shipping company, who recently passed away.
This proposal has found unanimous support in recognition of the figure of the Canary Island shipowner born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and of Lanzarote origin, who has played a prominent role in maritime communications between the Canary Islands and the Peninsula over the last fifty years. This afternoon, funeral services will be held at the cathedral of Las Palmas and at the church of El Pilar in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, for the eternal rest of his soul.
