The ship “Marie Curie” replaces Balearia on the Huelva route
The ship “Marie Curie” –the fourth replacement in a year of service– has joined the Huelva-Canary Islands route today, taking over from the ferry “Abel Matutes”, which will return to the Barcelona-Palma route, while the ferry “Rosalind Franklin” will move to the Valencia-Palma route. Efforts by some sectors of the port of Melilla to keep this ship, the newest in Balearia, on the Málaga route have not been successful.
The ship “Marie Curie” is a third-generation Visentini model, which seems more suited to the needs of the winter service, where the transport of rolling cargo for Mercadona, its main client, is prioritized. Yesterday, the supply of natural gas was staged at the port of Huelva, where three tankers simultaneously supplied in an MTTS bunkering operation. In total, 300 cubic meters that provide for 963 miles, as explained by Balearia.
