Seajets Adds the Monohull Formerly Known as “Almudaina Dos”
Seajets, the largest operator of high-speed vessels in Greece, has added the monohull “Speedrunner 2” (IMO 9141833) to its fleet after finalizing an agreement with a newly established shipping company called Horizon Sea Lines, which had purchased it from Acciona to operate on the Santorini-Heraklion route under the commercial brand Panelenic Lines.
Formerly “Santa Irini”, “Almudaina Dos”, and “Superseacat One”, it was built by Fincantieri at the La Spezia shipyard for Hoverspeed Ltd. and entered service in May 1997. Since April 2006, it has been owned by Acciona Trasmediterránea and after its time in the Balearic Islands and Canary Islands, it remained docked in the port of Almería.
Weighing 4,662 gross tons, it measures 100 m in overall length, 17.10 m in beam, and 2.68 m in draft. It has a capacity for 782 passengers and a garage for 175 cars. It is powered by four Ruston 20RK270 engines, with a total power of 27,500 kW driving an equal number of water jets, allowing it to maintain a speed of 34 knots.
