The Port of Santander Manages the Unloading and Transport of 24 Wind Blades for a Wind Farm in Burgos
The Port of Santander has completed the departure of the largest wind blades received to date in Spain. Each of the 24 pieces measures 87.5 meters in length and is destined for a wind farm in Burgos, according to El Diario Montañés.
The 24 blades arrived together in Santander, coming from Nador (Morocco), at the end of last June aboard the vessel "Super Fast Levante" (IMO 9204362), registered in Spain. The rest of the components for the wind turbines arrived at the port the previous month.
These are Nordex N175/6.X type blades, designed for wind turbines with more than 6 MW of power. Due to their large dimensions, their transport required a particularly complex logistical operation, which was handled by Cobasa.
After unloading, they have been transported by road in special convoys to their final destination in Burgos.
The road journey is approximately 210 kilometers and passes through towns such as Osorno and Olmillos de Sasamón. Each transport takes more than six and a half hours to complete the route.
This operation highlights the capacity of the Port of Santander to manage oversized loads and transport large components by road for renewable energy projects.
