The dismantling of the 'Pinar del Río' reaches water level
Work continues on-site to dismantle the remains of the catamaran “Pinar del Río”, from which the superstructure has already disappeared, and now the most difficult part remains, which is submerged and is being carried out by specialized divers. The high-speed vessel ran aground on the night of August 19 at the entrance of the port of Denia, where Balearia is based, while arriving from Palma and Ibiza.
The companies Ardentia Marine and Varadero Vinaròs are handling the dismantling work, with the help of a 250-ton crane. The extracted material is being piled up in a nearby lot and will be transported to a recycling plant managed by the second of the companies involved in the work.
