Other Protagonists of the 48th Anniversary of Ferry Gomera / 2
In October 1980, the second “Benchijigua” arrived, coming from the fleet of Fred. Olsen & Co., where it had previously been called “Bonanza”. Its importation required special authorization from the Council of Ministers, during the time of Adolfo Suárez, as it exceeded the tonnage established in the REF that Antonio Carballo Cotanda had so vigorously defended.
The actions of the Gomero Group formed by Adolfo Trujillo, Domingo León, Lorenzo Cabeza, and José Miguel Noda proved to be very beneficial, as they worked with great enthusiasm sending hundreds of telegrams of support with the consent of the civil governor, Jesús Javier Rebollo, whose brother Alejandro held a high position in the Ministry of Transport.
The photo shows four members of the board of directors of Ferry Gomera, in a picture taken on October 3, 1980: Leopoldo Boado Endeiza (president), Álvaro Rodríguez-López Braun (councilor), Cándido Luis García-Sanjuán (vice president), and Thor O. Lindberg (managing director), who also served as the consul of Norway in Tenerife.
