Other Protagonists of the 45th Anniversary of Ferry Gomera / 6
During the time of the second “Benchijigua” –the ship that consolidated the trajectory of Ferry Gomera, imported from Norway in October 1980 with a special permit from the council of ministers presided over by Adolfo Suárez– crew changes for the vessel were made every Thursday at the port of Los Cristianos, in accordance with the agreement. The photo corresponds to 1986 and in it we see, from left to right, the chief engineer Manuel Méndez, replacing the incumbent José García Oliva; Arturo Viera, bridge student; Manuel López Rodríguez-López, first officer on the bridge replacing José Jiménez, and Captain José Chillón González, who was the replacement for the incumbent Servando Peraza García. It goes without saying that Manuel Méndez and Manuel López, dressed in civilian clothes, were going on vacation.
