Nordic Design Invades the Spaces of the New 'Finnsirius'
Finnlines has generated significant anticipation in both Finland and Sweden with the upcoming introduction in September of the first of two new SuperStar class vessels on the Kapellskär-Långnäs-Nådendal route. It is called “Finnsirius” (IMO 9902419) and was delivered a few days ago at the China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Weihai.
Soon, Finnlines' new flagship – the Finnish subsidiary of the powerful Italian shipping group Grimaldi – will begin its long positioning journey from China to the Baltic Sea, under the command of Captain Johnny Forss. The company has sent the editor of puentedemando.com the first real images of its interiors, in line with Nordic design, featuring spacious enclosed areas filled with light and the high standards that characterize maritime traffic in the region.
Flagged in Finland, the new vessel registers 64,603 gross tons and its main dimensions are 235 m in length and 33 m in width. The cargo capacity increases by 24%, meaning 5,200 linear meters of rolling cargo and 1,100 passengers. It is equipped with powerful battery banks and shore power supply to achieve zero emissions in port. The propulsion by new generation diesel engines incorporates scrubbers, considered “much cleaner” than their predecessors.
