Morocco to Purchase Two USVs from the Netherlands for Mine Warfare and Anti-Submarine Operations
The Netherlands has authorized the sale to Morocco of two unmanned surface vehicles (USVs) intended for the Royal Moroccan Navy. The operation is valued at 13 million euros and includes the vessels, technological systems, spare parts, training, and technical assistance.
The first USV will be equipped to locate, identify, and neutralize sea mines, allowing these operations to be conducted without directly exposing a crew to potential explosive devices in port areas or navigation routes.
On the other hand, the second unit will be equipped with sensors and sonar systems to carry out surveillance and detection tasks for potential underwater threats in coastal waters.
The contract also includes a common control station, spare parts, documentation, training, and technical assistance. For security reasons, the manufacturer and specific model have not been disclosed, although it has been reported that the construction will take place in naval facilities belonging to the Netherlands.
