Maersk Adds Container Ship “AS Petronia” to Strengthen Mediterranean Sea C Service
Maersk has added the container ship “AS Petronia” (IMO 9286786) to strengthen its Mediterranean Sea C service, which connects various ports in the eastern and western Mediterranean. This is the fifth ship operating on this route.
The ship, flagged in Portugal, has a capacity of 2,556 TEU, making it the largest to operate on this service. According to maritime consultancy Alphaliner, the container ship began its first route on August 24 from the port of Barcelona.
With this addition, the service now has five ships and reduces its rotation to five weeks. The route maintains its current stops in Mersin (Turkey), Haifa (Israel), Alexandria (Egypt), Valencia, Barcelona, Casablanca (Morocco), Algeciras, and Tangier Med (Morocco), before returning to Haifa and Mersin.
