La Naval delivers the ship “Texelstroom” with a six-month delay
Construcciones Navales del Norte, successor of the historic shipyard La Naval in Sestao (Vizcaya), has delivered this week the ship "Texelstroom", built on behalf of the Dutch company Royal N.V. Texels Eigen Stoomboot Onderneming (TESO). It was launched on July 30, 2015, and the forecast for its completion has been extended by at least six months, as it was originally scheduled for early 2016, according to what was published then.
The project corresponds to a special vessel, equipped with two bows, two engine rooms, and two bridges, as can be seen in the image, intended to connect the ports of Den Helder (northern Holland) and Texel, with very active traffic, making agility in operations particularly important. It has a capacity for 1,750 passengers and 350 vehicles, with a hull measuring 135 m in length and 28 m in width. IMO Code 9741918.
Designed by C-Job Naval Architects, the propulsion system will allow the use of diesel or natural gas for navigation and electric motors for maneuvers in port, thus avoiding the emission of polluting gases during loading and/or unloading. The installation of 700 square meters of solar panels has been planned to achieve greater independence in the use of conventional fuels.
