Knutsen Chooses Ferrol, Huelva, Santander, and Extremadura
The Norwegian shipping group Knutsen OAS Shipping celebrated on Tuesday the launch of four new LNG vessels currently under construction at the Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries shipyard in South Korea. Their names are “Ferrol Knutsen,” “Santander Knutsen,” “Huelva Knutsen,” and “Extremadura Knutsen,” respectively.
These vessels have a capacity of 174,000 cubic meters each, and they will be chartered long-term to Shell. Each ship measures 297 m in length, will have dual-fuel X-DF engines, and Mark III Flex LNG transport systems from GTT.
The four new vessels are expected to be in service between June and December of this year. It is yet to be confirmed whether they will be registered under the Spanish flag and crewed by Spaniards. For now, the last of them, as we have seen in photos, is registered in the naval registry of Marseille.
