The dredger “Jun Yang 1” in Tenerife, on delivery voyage
This noon, the dredger “Jun Yang 1”, flagged in St. Vincent & Grenadines, approached the anchorage area of the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife to disembark a crew member and then continued its journey towards Cape Town. Our collaborator Ramón Acosta Merino captured the moment when it moderated its engine at the meeting point for the disembarkation attended by Off Shore Tenerife.
This is a state-of-the-art suction dredger and ranks among the largest in the world in its class. It has two pipes that can operate at a maximum depth of 90 m. The hopper has a capacity of 31,000 cubic meters of sand. It is powered by a diesel-electric system that allows it to maintain a speed of 16.5 knots and has accommodation for 45 crew members.
Built at the Royal IHC shipyard, Kinderdijk (Netherlands) on behalf of the Chinese company CCCC Guangzhou Dredging (GDC), it is on its delivery voyage. It has a considerable size for this class of vessels, with a length of 167.50 m, a beam of 31 m, a depth of 12.20 m, and a draft of 11 m. It registers 20,406 gross tons and 33,030 deadweight tons. IMO Code 9714472.
