The vessel "Haugesund Knutsen" (IMO 9918767) left the dry dock of the Armón Gijón shipyard last Tuesday with the assistance of several tugboats and moored at the port of El Musel alongside the special cargo ship "Happy Rober," which transferred the two LNG tanks in a highly precise operation, as seen in the photos provided for puentedemando.com.
The aforementioned vessel will return to the shipyard with the two tanks in the arrangement shown in the images to continue with the outfitting work, which consists of installing the corresponding structure and facilities, according to sources from the shipyard. The Asturian company Alvargonzález has handled the logistics of this operation.
As reported, this vessel will be dedicated to supplying liquefied natural gas at the port of Barcelona and is expected to enter service in the second half of 2022. This project is led by a subsidiary of Enagás called Scale Gas, which has received nine million euros in aid from the EU through the LNGhive2 program.
With a capacity of 5,000 cubic meters, it measures 92.75 m in length, 16.90 m in width, and 4.25 m in draft. It will have dual propulsion that consumes natural gas and will comply with all safety measures and regulations required for this type of unit. Notably, the superstructure is located at the bow.
