Grimaldi Receives the Ship “Eco Savona”, Fourth of the GG5G Series
The Italian group Grimaldi has received the ship “Eco Savona”, the fourth of twelve hybrid ro-ro vessels from the so-called Grimaldi Green 5th Generation (GG5G) series, contracted in China. Upon its arrival next April, it will start serving the regular line between Italy and Spain, where the twin ships “Eco Valencia”, “Eco Barcelona” and “Eco Livorno” are already operating.
The vessels of the GG5G project are among the largest in the world in their class. With a gross tonnage of 67,311 tons, they measure 238 m in length and 34 m in width. They maintain a service speed of 20.8 knots and have a cargo capacity of 7,800 linear meters of rolling cargo, equivalent to about 500 trailers and 180 cars.
