The decision, made last night by the management of Fred. Olsen to schedule an extraordinary trip this noon of the ship “Benchijugua Express” to La Palma, “in anticipation of needs” as pointed out by the Fleet Director, Juan Ignacio Liaño, has proven to be correct. The ship arrived at 3:30 PM at the port of the capital of La Palma, bringing reinforcements from the UME, about twenty members of the National Police, Canary Police, and other teams. At 8 PM, it departed from the port of Los Cristianos on its usual daily trip.
This afternoon, two Canadair CL-215 aircraft from the Air Force arrived at La Palma airport to join the fight against the fire. Last night, the bulk of the UME arrived on a rescheduled trip from Fred. Olsen, requiring regular transporters to leave their cargo on the dock of Los Cristianos, giving up their space for the transfer of about thirty military and support vehicles and their respective personnel.
