Fred. Olsen Recovers Pre-Crisis Salaries
The management of Fred. Olsen and the representatives of fleet and land staff signed the respective collective agreements on May 20, which will be in effect until 2020. This reflects the firm commitment of the company and its workers to maintain “the good social climate that has prevailed even in times when the efforts of all those who are part of the Fred Olsen group were significant,” says Andrés Marín, general coordinator of the company.
With the signing of the new agreements, Fred. Olsen recovers the pre-crisis salary situation, a period in which the workers of the shipping company made significant efforts to ensure the company moved forward under the strengthened conditions it has.
The new labor framework guarantees a sustained salary increase until 2020, which is set at the annual CPI plus one point, creates new categories, redefines others, and ultimately improves the working conditions for a large part of its workforce.
In addition to remuneration, the agreement also establishes significant improvements in areas such as promoting permanent hiring, job stability, and scheduling that allows for better work-life balance. It includes social improvements through general aids (school, leave, transport, etc.), development of the Equality Plan within Fred. Olsen, S.A., promotes the labor integration of disabled individuals, and particularly emphasizes Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) among other aspects through the creation of a “Corporate Volunteering” program.
The signing of this agreement “guarantees social stability that will surely allow for the consolidation and growth of the company in the next five years, which will result in maintaining good inter-island maritime transport under conditions of safety, speed, and comfort in the Canary Islands,” concludes Andrés Marín.
