First Voyage of the New Giant “Ever Atop”, 24,004 TEUs
The Suez Canal Authority reports the transit on Saturday, December 3rd, of the container ship “Ever Atop” (IMO 9893993), considered the largest in the world today, on its first commercial voyage between Malaysia and the Netherlands.
Flagged in Singapore and owned by Evergreen, it is the tenth ship of the A24 class, with a nominal capacity of 24,004 TEUs, although it appears to be carrying less than 75% of its capacity, indicating the contraction affecting international trade.
Weighing 224,000 gross tons, the new ship – which will cross the Strait of Gibraltar for the first time today – measures 400 m in length, 61.50 m in width, and 16.30 m in draft.
