First Stop of the Ferry “Abel Matutes” in Tenerife
With a slight delay from the scheduled time, the ferry “Abel Matutes” arrived last night at the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, on its first stop of the Huelva-Canary Islands route. This is the third ship change this year on this route since Balearia and Fred. Olsen started this service. This vessel, usually assigned to the Valencia-Ibiza-Palma route, has been replaced by the ship “Marie Curie,” which was launched last Friday.
As we have already mentioned, it is expected that the ship “Abel Matutes” – the largest in Balearia's own fleet – will remain on the Huelva route for two months, as passenger traffic significantly declines after the summer holidays, and its main commercial attraction is its rolling cargo capacity of 2,235 linear meters. It can accommodate 900 passengers and has recently been re-engined with dual engines.
