The first dry docking of the floating dock at Tenerife Shipyards will be the steamship “La Palma”
Tenerife Shipyards has completed the work carried out on the ferry “La Palma”, in which the underwater hull of the ship has been restored. The work began on May 28 and it was necessary to have IRATA technicians, who worked on the starboard side using ropes to lower themselves and carry out the various tasks.
Alexis Reverón, senior engineer at Tenerife Shipyards and project manager, highlights the “undeniable pride that it brings us to have completed this project, thus contributing to keeping alive the history of a ship that is a symbol for the Canary Islands. As a Canarian and as an engineer, having done this work has been especially satisfying for me.”
Aware that more repairs are needed until this emblematic ship is completely rehabilitated and achieves its goal of becoming a floating museum, Tenerife Shipyards extends a hand to continue participating in its recovery.
To reinforce this commitment, Tenerife Shipyards pledges that the first dry docking using the floating dock that is to be brought to the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife will be that of the ferry “La Palma”, thus reinforcing its character as a symbol and living history of the Canary Islands and the commitment of the Tenerife shipyard to the whole of the Canary Islands.
