Fincantieri Palermo Lengthens the Ship 'Star Breeze'
The Fincantieri shipyard in Palermo is working on the lengthening and re-engineering of the ship 'Star Breeze', to which a new section of 25.60 meters in length will be added. The forecast is that on February 20, 2020, it will depart from the port of Barcelona heading to the U.S. to participate in the reopening events of the port of Miami, scheduled for March 19.
Windstar Cruises has contracted with the Italian shipbuilding giant for the lengthening and re-engineering of three ships in its fleet, and the expectation is that the next two, 'Star Legend' and 'Star Pride', will pass through the Palermo shipyard during 2020.
The investment amounts to 250 million dollars. Additionally, the ships will be equipped with two new restaurants decorated with paintings by Spanish artist Anthony Sasso and a new outdoor Star Grill, which will be located on the upper deck of the extended section, as well as a new pool and hot tub, a first-class spa and fitness center, and 50 new suites. This will increase the accommodation capacity from 212 to 312 passengers, with a 1:1 staff-to-guest ratio.
