Fifteen million passengers have traveled on the "Viking XPRS" ferry
Fifteen million passengers have traveled aboard the ferry “Viking XPRS,” the flagship of the Viking Line shipping company, on the routes this vessel has covered in the Gulf of Finland since its entry into service in April 2008. Currently, it serves the Helsinki-Tallinn route, making two daily rotations, and on November 15, it welcomed the passenger who reached this milestone.
The aforementioned vessel is a "cruise ferry" built at the new Aker Finnyards shipyard in Helsinki (Finland). Since 2014, it has been registered in Estonia for tax reasons, and in its early years, it sailed under the Swedish flag.
It cost 130 million dollars and has a capacity for 2,500 passengers – of which 732 are in cabins – 240 cars, and one thousand linear meters of rolling cargo. Weighing 35,918 gross tons, it measures 185 m in length and 27.70 m in width, and travels at 25 knots powered by four Wärtsila engines, which provide a total power of 40,000 kW over two shafts.
