The ferry “Rosalind Franklin”, painted with the image of Balearia
After completing its scheduled dry dock in Gibraltar, where it coincided with the arrival of the ferry “Bahama Mama” for engine refurbishment, the ferry “Rosalind Franklin”, flagged in Cyprus, has rejoined the Barcelona-Palma route repainted with Balearia's corporate image.
With the addition of this vessel in June 2018, Balearia has increased its cargo offering on the Barcelona-Palma route by 35%. It has a capacity of 3,100 linear meters and 880 passengers, half in cabins. It operates a daily rotation departing from Barcelona at 11 PM and returning from Palma at 12:30 PM, covering the crossing in seven and a half hours at a sustained speed of 22 knots.
The vessel, formerly “Finnclipper”, built at the Puerto Real shipyard (Cádiz), is owned by the Finnish company Finnlines, is well-maintained, and complies with IMO regulations on limiting pollutant gases, which will be mandatory starting in 2020. For this reason, it is equipped with scrubbers that allow for the reduction of sulfur oxide emissions from exhaust gases below current standards, that is, less than 0.1%.
