Erasmus Students Intern at Hidramar
The Hidramar shipyard opens its doors to two Erasmus students for their internships. Kristian and Stefanie, both from Austria, are receiving training as a process engineer and laboratory technician, respectively. This stay at the Gran Canaria shipyard will allow them to practically apply the knowledge learned during their training, as well as gain insight into the ship repair sector on the island.
Both will be involved in mechanical activities (threading repair for oilfield tubular products), thus reinforcing their knowledge in CNC lathe operation and chemical control of the phosphating process. During their stay at Hidramar, they will be supervised at all times by senior engineers who will ensure that any questions that arise while they work are clarified, always under maximum occupational safety conditions, prioritizing the company's zero workplace accidents policy.
With this initiative, Hidramar strengthens its commitment to training young talents, giving them the opportunity to closely experience the work environment of ship repair. With initiatives like this, Hidramar aims to train inexperienced youth who have the chance to learn from the earliest moments of their working life how to work under maximum occupational safety conditions while always prioritizing quality in their work and respect for the environment.
The only requirements that Hidramar asks when hiring new junior engineers are to have completed their degree and to speak English fluently, as they will be dealing directly with international clients.
Hidramar Shipyards is based in the port of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. It offers services and technical assistance to the naval sector, prioritizing compliance with established deadlines and minimizing periods of inactivity.
With 30 years of business experience, the Hidramar team is composed of highly qualified workers who dedicate as much time as necessary to plan and evaluate the work to be done, with a clear objective: a zero workplace accidents policy while maintaining the highest quality in the work they perform.
With a strong presence in Africa and the Mediterranean, Hidramar always opts for local suppliers who can respond quickly to our clients' needs. Together with the Tenerife Shipyards, located in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, both companies form the Hidramar Group.
