Emotional Meeting, Evocation of the Authentic Transatlantic Company
The spirit of the authentic Spanish Transatlantic Company remains alive in the memory of those who were its co-protagonists, in an era when the century-old Spanish shipping company was a source of pride for the national Merchant Navy and maintained the maritime link between Spain and Latin America. Then came turbulent times, misguided strategies, and questionable managers that led the shipping company to ruin and failure. But that is another story.
A group of those men who had important responsibilities during their time gathered a few days ago in Madrid and shared a meal in an atmosphere of great fraternity and well-understood friendship. On this occasion, there was also an emotional toast for José Ignacio de Ramón Martínez, who was absent due to his delicate state of health.
A pleasant meeting, as always, among Manuel Padín García, Manuel Marrero Álvarez, Carlos Peña Alvear, Juanjo Loredo Mutiozábal, Lucinio Martínez Santos, José Enrique Moro Mediano, and the undersigned. Rafael Jaume Romaguera, José Ángel González Guisande, and Francisco Bilbeny Costa excused their absence. Until next time.
