CMA CGM Boosts Algeciras Over Valencia and Barcelona
CMA CGM has eliminated its stops in Valencia and Barcelona and is concentrating its operations at the port of Algeciras as the hub for the services known as Medwax, Euraf3, and Wazzan. With this, the French multinational aims to improve the service it offers “towards the strategic markets” of West Africa and seeks to achieve a reorganization of the fleet used between Europe and Africa.
For the Medwax service, it will be operated by four vessels of 2,500/2,800 TEUs and will connect the ports of Algeciras, Tangier Med, Dakar, Conakry, Freetown, and San Pedro. Additionally, a rotation every 18 days has been scheduled between Valencia, Conakry, and Freetown.
The Euraf3 service will have five vessels of 1,700/2,200 TEUs linking the ports of Algeciras, Tangier Med, Monrovia, and Banjul. The first departure took place on May 1st aboard the vessel “Lion.” A transit rotation of 25 days from Banjul to Valencia and 18 days from Monrovia has been planned.
For the Wazzan service, a stop at the port of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is included, as well as Casablanca, Nouakchott, Dakar, and Nouadhibou.
Furthermore, the roll-on/roll-off vessel “Andalucía Express” will operate in Algeciras for CMA CGM's SECI Service.
