The Civil Guard Intensifies Maritime Surveillance in Cantabria Ahead of High Attendance for the Solar Eclipse
The Civil Guard will deploy a special device in Cantabria due to the total solar eclipse tomorrow, Wednesday, August 12, in anticipation of a high influx of people to various points in the community. The operation will pay special attention to safety on the roads, the coast, and the airspace, as well as to areas where spectators gather.
One of the main objectives will be to reinforce maritime surveillance, as numerous vessels are expected to enjoy this phenomenon from the sea. To this end, the Maritime Service of the Civil Guard will intensify controls at ports, along the coast, and in waters close to the shore, paying special attention to both boats and jet skis.
The Civil Guard will establish advanced command posts at five observation points: Cuberris beach in Bareyo; Canallave-Valdearenas beach in Piélagos; Peñacabarga viewpoint in Medio Cudeyo; Punta del Dichoso in Suances; and Páramo de la Lora, next to the Astronomical Observatory of Cantabria in Valderredible. There will also be specific devices in municipalities such as Castro Urdiales, San Vicente de la Barquera, and the Brotherhood of Campoo de Suso.
