The Civil Guard Arrests Suspected Author of Luxury Boat Theft After Pursuit in Ibiza Waters
The Civil Guard has arrested a 52-year-old man accused of stealing a luxury boat valued at over one million euros in the port of Sóller (Mallorca). The intervention ended with a pursuit by sea and air in the waters of Ibiza.
The events occurred last Sunday, August 23, following the alert of a theft of a boat belonging to a charter company. The company provided the authorities with all the data to determine its position.
The Civil Guard mobilized one helicopter and two vessels from the Provincial Maritime Service to locate and intercept the boat, which had a man and a woman on board.
The agents attempted several times to get the captain to stop the boat, but he did not comply. During the pursuit, which lasted half an hour, the man rammed into the Civil Guard vessels.
Finally, the captain surrendered, and the agents were able to immobilize the boat and arrest the man, accused of theft, disobedience, and assault against authority.
