The Ceuta-Algeciras Line Contract Extended for Six Months
The contract for the Ceuta-Algeciras line, which is a public service obligation, will be extended for six months, as stipulated in the terms of reference, pending the Ministry of Development's announcement of a new tender. Thus, Balearia will continue to provide the service during this time while the administrative process is resolved.
Balearia was awarded the aforementioned line for 3,990,000 euros, ten thousand euros less than the cap set in the official tender, which was four million euros. The contract came into effect on January 1, 2015, for a period of two years, which will now be extended by six months. The main vessel assigned to this service is the ferry “Passió per Formentera.”
