The Calima Leaves Its Mark on the Cruise Ship “Seabourn Encore”
A rain of mud carrying the calima of African origin that reigns in the atmosphere of southeastern Spain has left its mark on the immaculate white of the ultra-luxury cruise ship “Seabourn Encore,” which has docked at the port of Cartagena, as the reader can see in the images from our collaborator Diego Quevedo Carmona.
The most striking effect of the storm “Celia” is the invasion of Saharan air loaded with suspended dust. According to meteorological sources, Spain has been the “most polluted” country in the world due to this circumstance, which has harmful consequences for health.
Flagged in Malta and owned by Seabourn Cruises, it is an Italian-built vessel that entered service in January 2017. Weighing 41,685 gross tons, it measures 210.50 m in length and 28 m in beam, with a capacity for 604 passengers. IMO Code 9731171.
