Biomca Química exports its first chlorine production to Gran Canaria
Biomca Química, one of the industries established in the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, will export its first production of sodium hypochlorite to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria tomorrow. Two tanks are leaving from the first factory of its kind installed in the Canary Islands, and in addition to fully supplying the chlorine needs of the islands, it will also meet the demand in the Atlantic African market.
This company occupies a plot of five thousand square meters located in the Fishing Dock of the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. It can produce 1.5 million liters monthly, and its owners have invested five million euros. It has been in operation after nine months of construction and testing and employs around fifty people.
The plant was officially inaugurated on May 11. José Rafael Díaz Hernández, director of the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, stated at that time that Biomca Química is a pioneer in contributing to export maritime traffic and emphasized that it has been generating employment “from the very moment it was established in the dock, when fifteen trucks were needed to mobilize the first 3,000 cubic meters of salt.”
