The dredger “Barlovento Primero” will be scrapped in El Musel
Towed by the tugboat “Sella" and with the support of the tugboat “Wilton”, which is maintaining air pressure in the floats, the dredger “Barlovento Primero” has been at the dock near DDR Vessels XXI in El Musel since yesterday, currently submerged, for its upcoming scrapping.
The aforementioned dredger sank on May 30, 2018, in the waters of Suances while working to allow for a greater draft at the bar of that port. The crew was able to reach safety.
Air is being pumped into the floats (yellow in color) that support the dredger “Barlovento Primero” from the tugboat “Wilton”.
Meanwhile, dismantling work continues on the former seismic vessel “Aquila Explorer”, which was the first acquisition of the aforementioned company specialized in scrapping. This vessel arrived in July 2019 at El Musel, and according to the newspaper “La Nueva España” from Gijón, an evangelical church from South Korea has purchased the bow of the vessel to build a 20 m tall tower at the place of worship in the city of Seoul.
