Balearia Presents the Ship “Dénia Ciutat Creativa” at the Port of Barcelona
Balearia has presented today at the port of Barcelona the ship “Dénia Ciutat Creativa”, which will be re-launched tonight on the Barcelona-Ciutadella route, where it will operate a daily rotation. It comes to reinforce the service provided by the ship “Martín i Soler”, thereby increasing the offer for the summer, with a capacity of 399 passengers, of which 277 are in 79 cabins and 1,850 linear meters of roll-on/roll-off cargo.
The ship is registered in Cyprus. The shipping company chaired by Adolfo Utor has decided to rename it “Dénia Ciutat Creativa” in recognition of this Alicante city, the company’s headquarters, following the declaration of Creative Gastronomic City made by UNESCO in 2015.
This is the former “Scandola”, owned by the French company La Meridionale, for which Balearia has paid 14 million euros and invested another million to give it a facelift at the Marseille shipyard (France), renewing interiors and installing a transverse bow propeller, among other details. Until its acquisition by Balearia last February, it was chartered by Trasmediterránea.
