Balearia Incorporates the Ropax Ship 'Marie Curie'
The incorporation of the ship 'Marie Curie' to the Valencia-Ibiza-Palma line of Balearia is scheduled for July 26. It is a third-generation Visentini-type vessel similar to the 'Hypatia of Alexandria', both flagged in Cyprus and powered by dual engines of 20,600 kW on two shafts, capable of consuming natural gas or fuel, allowing it to maintain a speed of 23 knots.
Balearia states that it has invested around 200 million euros in the construction of both ships, which incorporate some innovations, such as the digitalization of all signage, a camera system installed in pet accommodations (allowing passengers to see them at all times through their mobile phones), self-service kiosks in the cafeteria, free WhatsApp service throughout the journey, and internet access via vouchers.
The new ship offers three lounges with reclining seats (two standard and one superior) and 120 cabins with a capacity for 480 passengers equipped with a full bathroom, air conditioning, wifi, and smart TV with the included digital entertainment system. It also has two cabins adapted for people with reduced mobility, a shop, cafeteria, self-service and à la carte restaurant, and jacuzzis on the outer deck. IMO Code 9498767.
