The ship “Al Andalus Express” will debut on June 15 on the Motril-Tanger Med route
Starting June 15, FRS Iberia will incorporate the ship “Al Andalus Express” into the Motril-Tanger Med route, replacing the ship “Kattegat”. This change is made to enhance the service during the OPE 2016 and is especially aimed at truck drivers, providing them with hours of rest and reducing waiting times at other alternative ports. The ship is being prepared at the Cernaval shipyard, located in Campamento (Bay of Algeciras), where its new name and the corporate image of FRS are already visible.
The ship “Al Andalus Express” is chartered to the French company Euro-Transmanche 3 NPC, where it recently sailed under the name “Nord Pas-de-Calais”. It has 28 years of maritime life and a very striking appearance. It entered service in December 1987 and is a ro-pax with capacity for 80 passengers, 90 trailers, and 600 linear meters for rolling cargo. It registers 13,727 gross tons, measures 160 m in length, and maintains a speed of 20 knots. In its new phase, it is flagged in Cyprus, a registration that has recently been in high demand. IMO Code 8512152.
