Adolfo Utor Assures Naviera Armas Staff: Job Security and Spanish-Flagged 'Volcanoes'
The works council of Naviera Armas, chaired by Antonio Rodríguez Ojeda, reports that it held a meeting on June 30 with the president of Baleària Canarias, Adolfo Utor, the new owner of the Grupo Armas Trasmediterránea, who was also attended by the general director Georges Bassoul and the Human Resources Management, with the aim of getting firsthand knowledge of the project's evolution in the Canary Islands and conveying the current situation of the company.
During the meeting, management conveyed a message of reassurance to all staff and reiterated its commitment to the Baleària Canarias project.
The main commitments communicated by management are as follows:
Job Security and Route Maintenance
Management expressed its intention to maintain all acquired vessels under the Spanish flag, which currently operate under that flag, as well as its commitment to job preservation. This announcement refutes the information and rumors that have circulated in recent weeks, which had generated uncertainty and fear among the staff.
Reinforcement of Staff
As a demonstration of this commitment, it was reported that, in less than a month and a half, more than one hundred new hires have been made at Naviera Armas Flota and Artra, companies of Baleària Canarias, with the aim of reinforcing staff and achieving the service and quality standards that characterize the company.
Dialogue, Cohesion, and Continuous Communication
The works council maintains continuous and fluid communication with management, jointly addressing issues and incidents that may arise in day-to-day operations. The willingness of all parties is to continue working from dialogue, cohesion, and commitment to a common project.
“In light of the circulation of various information and rumors, this Committee calls for calm and not to give credibility to information that does not come from official channels or that has not been properly verified.”
“The company’s management has conveyed its full availability to clarify any questions and continue maintaining transparent communication with the workers' representation. For our part, the Committee remains available to all staff to address inquiries and channel concerns, preventing unverified rumors or information from generating unnecessary worry.”
“Finally, the Committee would like to thank the company and especially Mr. Adolfo Utor for the willingness to meet with all members of the Committee and maintain direct contact, expressing and listening to the concerns of the Fleet.”
“The Works Council will continue to perform its duties responsibly, maintaining constant communication with management and ensuring compliance with the commitments made in this meeting, always in defense of the rights, employment, and interests of all staff,” it concludes.
